Jane Summer School 2022: Networking with Zoom Events

Now that Jane Summer School is starting, you can get ready to start connecting with new friends and colleagues, so grab a sharpie and a name badge and let’s get started😄👫🏽🎓

Before we start, if you’re looking to build out your Summer School Schedule, follow this guide to building out your itinerary

While we’re here, let’s make sure your profile is enabled to be viewable to others and that you have the Notify toggle on so we don’t miss any notifications when someone reaches out to connect with you.

Now that we’re here, it’s time to build your profile. This is a great way to tell others about yourself, what you do, and what type of connections you’re looking to make. Spending a little time here is a great step towards creating some meaningful connections with other professionals joining you at Summer School.

Networking Modes

Networking Modes display to others that you are there to connect. To make sure you are set up to chat, click on your icon in the top right corner, then scroll down and select Feeling Social.

Woo! Now you and others will display a green border around your profile image to show that you are looking to connect.

Connecting with event attendees through the chat feature

You’re just one step away from making new connections. Once you have Joined the conference event lobby, hover your mouse over the profile picture of the attendee you want to connect with. The attendee’s profile card will appear. In the bottom-right corner of the attendee’s profile card, click the add icon. The button will change to Connect when your mouse moves over the icon. Click Connect. The button will change to Pending after your request is sent. Once the attendee has accepted your request, you’re free to connect, become besties, or create some new working relationships!

Connecting with attendees in Sessions

Connecting in sessions works the same way as the Event Lobby Chat. In the top-right corner of the chat panel, click the box with a number. The number signifies the total number of attendees in the session; this will also open the attendee list.

Talking with your new Connections

From the Lobby Chat, you can click the back button to see your connection list. From here, you can view and start conversations with your new connections.

How to view and accept your new connections

Sign in to Zoom Events. In the top-right corner, click on your profile picture. From there, you will click Go to Profile and finally click My Connections.

And that’s it, you’re ready to connect with others in your community. But, if you still have any questions feel free to reach out to us here at Jane, we love to hear from you.
