Jane's Guide Here's all the help you need to use Jane.

Transitioning from Jane’s Desktop App to the Web App

This guide will walk through everything you need to know to make a smooth transition from using Jane’s Desktop app to the web app moving forward.

Let’s dive in 🤿

Jane’s Desktop app was initially launched in 2020 as an experimental app with a limited number of users. In general, Jane is designed to work best as a web application, not a desktop one.

Given that we have historically invested more resources in the web app experience, we’ve decided to “sunset” the app. This means we’ve made the tough decision to no longer support the Desktop app as a means of accessing Jane moving forward. This allows us to reinvest more resources in Jane’s web application and add new and highly requested features.

You will be able to access your Jane account via the desktop app until May 14, 2024, but we recommend getting ahead of this change, and we’re here to help!

Using Jane on your browser won’t affect your workflow much, but we want to ensure you are comfortable with this change. Grab a coffee or tea and take a few moments to review the information below.

What do I need to know?

How do I access my Jane account going forward?

To access your account from your web browser, you can open a new tab and enter your clinic’s unique URL in the address bar to log in. The URL for administrative Jane accounts is yourclinicname.janeapp.com/admin. Not sure of your URL? Find it on the Jane Account Lookup page or reach out to us.

What web browser do you recommend I use to access Jane going forward?

We recommend using Google Chrome for the best experience with Jane on desktop or laptop devices. You can check out our Browser & Operating System Requirements guide for additional details on this.

How can I bookmark my account URL for easier access in future?

Did you know you can bookmark your Jane account to your browser for easy one-click access? Check out our Bookmarking Your Jane Account for Easy Access guide that walks through all the steps in detail.

Will I experience any loss of data or settings preferences?

Nope - rest assured there will be no changes to your Jane account or the data within it. This change solely affects how you access Jane.

Why is Jane sunsetting the desktop app?

The Jane desktop app was an experimental app we launched in 2020 and it has been used by a small set of users. Additionally, Jane has always been optimized to be used on a web browser (Google Chrome specifically) and we find that users have the best experience with Jane when accessing it as a web application. We have historically invested most resources into the web application experience. Sunsetting our desktop app will allow us to reinvest more resources into Jane’s web application and many more features.

When is the Jane desktop app being officially sunset?

The desktop app will be sunset on May 14, 2024, which means you won’t be able to sign in to your Jane account in the desktop app after this date.

What happens to the Jane desktop app after May 14, 2024?

The desktop app will no longer be supported or accessible as of May 14, 2024, at 10:00 PM PST. You will only be able to access your Jane account from your internet browser.
